As a celebrant, it is wonderful to receive referrals and testimonials, but my greatest compliment has been the opportunity to conduct three ceremonies within the same family. Brother and sister and cousins, Brooke, Tash, Jamie and their partners entrusted me with one of the most important day in each of their lives.
This also presents a challenge..to ensure that each ceremony is uniquely different from the other. It is so important to capture the nature of their personalities and the essence of their relationship, telling their story with sincerity.
I recently saw a video of a friends wedding, conducted by an 'experienced' celebrant. So experienced, that in fact every word was spoken without a script. So practised that it was recited without any true reference to the couple being married. They were given options they "had" to choose from..and as a result it lacked warmth and sincerity.
I think it's a celebrants responsibility to ensure their couples are given the freedom of expression. We are here to guide them and ensure the legal and mandatory requirements are met. Providing warmth, compassion and heartfelt interest will reward you time and time again.
Today I am celebrating my 100th Wedding!! This is such an exciting celebration for me, and indeed for every marriage celebrant who achieves this milestone. I live in a remote community, so its taken me quite a long time!!
Thank you to all my beautiful brides and grooms who have trusted me to perform you wedding ceremony. Your wedding day is as important to me as it is to you and I look forward to the next 100!!!!!
