Like Kaleesi she rode through the forest..her gossamer gown flowing, her arms adorned in gold. When suddently, without warning, her giant steed gave an almighty buck, launching her skyward……and unceremoniously depositing her in a heap on the ground!
You could be forgiven for thinking this was the prelude to an episode of “Game of Thrones” but in fact, this was the how my beautiful friends ceremony actually began.
Fortunately, this story has a happy ending..stoic and brave she rose triumphantly and with a smile on her glorious face, she walked with grace and pride to meet her lover in matrimony. Where the ceremony continued beautifully with all the heart and sentiment that was intended!
As celebrants we witness it all and on occasion the princess bride (and groom) that cracks it over a wardrobe malfunction, or who is so busy micro-managing her day, that she’s actually forgotten to be a bride.
There is a point to this, and it is ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’. Remember that nothing can possibly be as bad as being hurled off a horse in front of all your guests, actually hurting yourself, and tearing your dress. It’s not about perfection, how much money you spend or the suppliers you use.
It is about the sincerity of the love you have for the person standing beside you.
Keep smiling, after all, this could only happen to you, right!
