I am proud to support marriage equality for same sex couples in Australia. I believe that everyone in love, regardless of their gender, has a right to solemnise their union in marriage. When becoming a marriage celebrant in Australia, we are required to study, learn and abide by the laws of the Discrimination Acts of this country. Its seems ironic to me that despite this, we still discriminate against same sex marriage. I hope that Australians will unite to change this law and allow everyone the right to celebrate their love in marriage.
Celebrants displaying this logo have a policy of treating the LGBTI community with dignity and respect. They support the Marriage Equality movement and same sex marriage. The logo, combines easily recognised symbols, wedding rings, rainbow colours, and the equal sign. It was initiated and designed specifically for celebrants by Judy Aulich and Charles Foley, so that members of the LGBTI community, and also those who support marriage equality, can easily find celebrants who will welcome their business. There is already something about this year that is filling me with optimism. Even the date itself is lovely..and by the number of weddings already booked for this year, I think a lot of you must agree with me. I think this may be a 'girl thing' though. I recently mentioned to a friend of mine that I thought 2015 was a 'pretty date'. He didn't quite get it..but a lot of my girlfriends do! Exmouth is already turning on the warm weather and we're experiencing glorious days perfect for the beach and spending our evenings cooking on the BBQ and enjoying some nicely chilled wine..and I've already heard rumours that the Whale Sharks have arrived! I'm looking forward to all the beautiful weddings planned for Exmouth this year. With so much to see and do, Exmouth is also a perfect place to spend your honeymoon. To everyone celebrating their first Christmas together as husband and wife, I wish you a happy and romantic Christmas and a New Year filled with exciting plans for your future. I've just returned from an amazing holiday in New York, Las Vegas, and several weeks in Europe. Whilst in Las Vegas I saw Elvis ('gold lame Elvis') chaufeurring a bride and groom in this fabulous pink Cadillac! For a Celebrant from Exmouth, a long way from home, this was pretty exciting!! Theming is becoming increasingly popular for Australian couples and can be lots of fun! Living in Exmouth means I KNOW why YOU CHOSE to be married HERE! As a Celebrant based in beautiful Exmouth, I get to perform Summer Weddings pretty much all year round! With the Summer Wedding Season about to commence in Perth, I thought it was timely to remind our couples of a few things they may wish to consider if they are having their wedding outdoors, or at the beach. One of the first questions I ask my bride is “are you going to be late”? Remember that if you are 10-15 minutes late, then it is likely your guests have been sitting in the sun for half an hour. I find that very few couples consider shade for their guests. Market umbrellas look great, but they can be heavy and expensive. A cheaper option is to provide beach umbrellas – they look bright and festive and are easy to manage. Beach Weddings are beautiful and I have seen everything from “barefoot and boardies” to the full meringue! Whatever your style, ensure your invitations reflect the style of dress most suitable for your day. To avoid burnt feet on hot sand, it’s a good idea to have some ‘thongs’ available for the guests that may have missed the ‘fine print’. The provision of iced water is another thoughtful addition. To avoid dehydration and a little over indulgence, offer chilled water before your ceremony and save the alcohol until later. Summer can often mean mosquitoes and sand flies, so having insect repellant on hand can help to avoid discomfort. I always recommend having a Plan B. While the cyclone season doesn’t extend as far as Perth, one thing we can never control is the weather. It’s always a good idea to have an alternative, just in case. Most importantly, relax and enjoy the most beautiful day of your lives. 2013 has been the most wonderful year for Weddings and celebrations in Exmouth. It's been lovely to meet so many beautiful people and my privilege to take part in the most important day of their lives. To everyone celebrating their first Christmas together as husband and wife, I wish you a happy and romantic Christmas and a New Year filled with exciting plans for your future. Exmouth has so much more than beautiful beaches, including the beautiful Yardie Creek Gorge, located 91km from the Exmouth town centre. I performed a fabulous wilderness wedding for Gill & Andy earlier this year. It was so stunning in the late afternoon light, with the gorge behind us and the magnificent Ningaloo Reef stretching out before us. Why not choose a 'Wild & Wonderful' location for your Exmouth wedding! |
